Eating disorders affect over 8 million Americans every year, and someone dies every 62 minutes from an eating disorder. The Something for Kelly Foundation was created in remembrance of Kelly Burk Nobbe, a young adult who suffered from anorexia – considered a mental health disorder – and who ultimately succumbed to it on August 7, 2009. The foundation strives to bring awareness and create a dialog so that others that might suffer from the disease and their families and friends can have a way to potentially prevent a similar loss of someone they love. Dallas Jeweler Patti Geolat, Kelly’s aunt, has launched an exclusive jewelry line called `Something for Kelly` with the goal of bringing awareness to the disease that claimed the life of Kelly.
